Session 3: Economic and Financial Challenges and Opportunities The global economy is slowing down, the US continues its slow recovery from the Global Financial Crisis but clouds are gathering with billions of dollars being wiped off global equity markets in the last few months. There remains much uncertainty about the future of the Chinese economy. Are the doomsayers overly pessimistic or is a second Global Crisis on the horizon? In its Global Financial Stability Report the IMF warned that risks were shifting to emerging markets due to legacy issues from the crisis in advanced economies, and weak systemic market liquidity.
