| INTRODUCTION |
| Brunei Darussalam
is located in the northwestern coast of the island of Borneo. It
covers a land area of 5,765 kilometers. Bandar Seri Begawan is the
capital of Brunei Darussalam with an area of about 16 sq. km and
a population of about 46,000 It is located in the Brunei/Muara District,
and is the centre of government and business activities. The 15th
General Meeting of the PECC will be held from 1-3 September. Registrants
can register for the meeting online or contact your local PECC member
committee for delegation information. |

Begawan, the capital city of Brunei where the conference will be
held was formerly known as Brunei Town until the 3rd October 1970.
The population of Bandar Seri Begawan is about 22,000. |

INFORMATION ON BRUNEI AND ITS CAPITAL |
| Climate |
| Brunei Darussalam,
located in a tropical area, is relatively hot, humid and wet throughout
the whole year. Its average daily temperature during September is
27.8 degrees Celsius / 82 degrees Fahrenheit. |
| Culture |
| Brunei Darussalam
is gifted with a long heritage of traditions and customs, behavioral
traits and forms of address. Though Islam is the official religion
in Brunei Darussalam, other faiths are also practiced. |

| Brunei Darussalam
has a rich handicraft tradition especially, it is possible to find
many good buys in gold, silver and bronze items and locally produced
art (tiny bronze cannons with elaborate carving are a specialty).
In the capital, there is a traditional outdoor market (tamu) as
well as a large number of modern shopping centers (Centrepoint are
in Gadong and the Yayasan Complex in town). |

| The Brunei
Dollar is the local currency. The Brunei dollar is on par with the
Singapore dollar, which is also accepted in Brunei Darussalam. There
is no restriction on the import or export of money. Banks, hotels
and many department stores will cash traveler's cheques. Brunei
uses 1c, 5c, 20c and 50c coins, and notes in denominations of Br$1,
Br$5, Br$10, Br$50, Br$100, Br$500, Br$1,000 and Br$10,000. |

in Brunei Darussalam is 220V - 240V, 50Hz. Most sockets are 3-rectagular-pins
sockets as in Singapore and the U.K. and most hotels provide adaptors

Formalities and Airport Arrival at Brunei International Airport
in Bandar Seri Begawan |
| Heads of Delegations
/ Chairs of Member Committees will be received by BDCPEC representatives
at the Brunei International Airport. Respective Member Committee
Secretariats are requested to confirm the flight details of their
Head of Delegation / Chair of Member Committee with the BDCPEC Secretariat
/ PECC Secretariat for necessary arrangements. Special
counters for immigration and customs clearance will be arranged
for PECC XV delegates to ensure speedy completion of entry formalities.
Student ambassadors will also be stationed at the airport to provide
assistance. |

to ICC:
- Empire hotel: 20 minutes drive
from the airport and 20 minutes drive from the International
Convention Centre (ICC).
- Sheraton Utama: Centrally located
in the city. 9 km and 4 minutes to the airport, and 4
minutes to the International Convention Centre.
- Centerpoint: 15 mins drive to
the airport and 15 minutes drive to the International Convention
Centre (ICC).
- Orchid Garden: As it is located
strategically between the Brunei International Airport and Brunei
Government offices. It’s within walking distance from
the International Convention Centre (ICC).
- Riverview: It is situated about
10 minutes drive from the International Convention Centre (ICC)
and airport.
