driving engine to promote global economic growth. This May\, APEC Minister
s Responsible for Trade(MRT) has also pointed out the importance of intern
ational trade system for productivity\, innovation\, job creation and deve
lopment. As the cornerstone of economic globalization and free trade\, the
important contribution of the multilateral trading system with the World
Trade Organization (WTO) at its core has been recognized by APEC economies
. However\, due to the increasingly serious unilateralism and protectionis
m\, multilateralism and free trade system have been impacted\, and WTO is
facing the survival crisis and the challenge of survival through reform. H
ow APEC can uphold multilateralism and free trade in the context of anti-g

ctivity\, Innovative Development such as digital economy/trade and People-
Centered development\, etc.\nAPEC Economic Leaders approved the “APEC Conn
ectivity Framework” in Bali in 2013\, pledging to “reach a seamlessly and
comprehensively connected and integrated Asia-Pacific through the pillars
of physical connectivity\, institutional connectivity and people-to-people
connectivity”. The 2014 Beijing APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting endorsed t
he “APEC Connectivity Blueprint for 2015-2025”. Asia-Pacific Connectivity
is not only the prerequisite for realizing the regional economic integrati
on\, but also indispensable to revitalizing the economy and promoting the
long-term inclusive growth and sustainable development. The APEC agenda in
the post 2020 era must be adapted to the new situation of rapid developme
nt of digital and information technology. Innovative development based on
the digital economy represents the future direction of economic and social
development to which the APEC economies should pay enough attention. At t
he same time\, they should also focus on the balanced development of the e

historical juncture\, APEC should and can shoulder the mission of leading
