YokohamaA three-year international project that has been running throughout 2009-2011, PECC held its concluding seminar in Perth, Australia on 11-13 April 2011 to summarize the findings and to prepare for the publication of "PECC Voluntary Guidelines to Promote Environmental Sustainability in Urban Centers." The project aims to compile the best practices from around the Pacific region in respect to providing the public services and infrastructure that are environmentally friendly as well as efficient. Changing urban lifestyles, technological advancements, consideration of high density in mega-cities, various elements of conflict in land use and the protection of environment conservation are just some of the topics addressed through this project. Speakers from relevant government agencies, technical research, and multinational corporations contributed to this multisectoral project led by the national committees of France, New Zealand, and Australia.
