Session V: Concluding Session: How to contribute to a better city

Session chairs are invited to report on their sessions and to introduce recommendations from the discussions. Proposals for a sustainable city should be produced under 3 headings:

  • criteria for a better urban life and the development of sustainable cities
  • criteria for better and cleaner urban transportation
  • criteria for a better governance for a more sustainable city

Roundtable discussion: Best practices for the provision of public services for better protection of the environment.

The concluding roundtable will make its best efforts to identify best practices in the provision of public services that could serve as a guidelines for a better protection of the environment of large cities in the PECC economies.

Follow up of the Auckland and Perth seminars: It is proposed that the outcome of the Perth seminar along with the recommendations derived from the Auckland seminar be presented as "PECC Voluntary Guidelines to Promote Environmental Sustainability in Urban Centers". Speakers will be asked to prepare written reports of their powerpoint presentations and session chairs are expected to contribute the proposals and recommendations identified in their respective sessions
