Overview

Community integration in mining is a sensitive and complex issue, and one which has led to controversy, delays, and disruption where the impact of mining and the interests of local communities have not been resolved.

How is this issue being addressed in the region, and what actions and principles can be adopted to insure that both communities and miners benefit?

These questions are the focus of the next event of PECC's Mineral Network.

A meeting on 'Community Integration in mining and Mine Site Rehabilitation' will be held in Brisbane on November 17 and 18.

The meeting will help share experiences among stakeholders from around the region, and finding new insights will be an important contribution.

Participants will include government officials with policy responsibilities related to these issues, researchers working in the field and company executives from the industry and related service suppliers.
